The 13th, 14th and 15th of May saw the UEFA Cup Final between Glasgow Rangers and St Petersburg at Trafford Park. TAS (The Aviation Society) who are based at
Manchester had organised a ticket only day of viewing at the Aviation Park on the north side of the airfield. TVAS members Brian Kiddy, myself (Daryl Barber), Sidney Faulkner and Peter Rushton departed
Derby at 6am and after a smooth journey arrived at the Aviation Viewing Park at a little after 8am.
Upon our arrival we met up with several other EMA regulars who informed us several of the planned flights had been cancelled due to poor ticket sales in Russia,
despite this dissapointing information we settled down for the day in front of the conveniently placed burger stand. The first Russian arrival was EI-UND Boeing 767-300 of Transaero arrived at 09:55 then
RA-85709 a Tupolev 154 of Atlant Soyuz at 10:14. Next came RA-85740 another Tupolev 154 of Atlant Soyuz at 10:40. Next up was RA-73000 a Boeing 737-700 operated by Gazpromavia at 11:11, followed by RA-42385,
followed by EI-DZH a B763 of POCCNR then a Yakolev 42 of Centre AviaBest arrived next at 12:06 then Falcon 900 RA-09006 a few minutes later. We had a few hours of the usual MAN traffic (except several biz-jet
visitors) then RA-85659 a Tupolev 154 of Rossiya arrived at 15:05. At this point we decided that we would leave for home befoe the traffic got to peak volumes and headed for home. A great day was had by all,
many thanks to Peter who did the driving, also thanks to Brian and Sid for their company.

Next Thursday (20th May) we are returning to Manchester to see the MUFC Moscow airlift which should see a much bigger number of rare birds chartered to take the British supporters to Moscow. I will post a report on this also.
